Malaysian Influencer Sparked Outrage After Impersonating G-Dragon in Public

Date:

Malaysian influencer Jaysong or also known as, JiaSong, has landed himself in the middle of a social media firestorm after pulling off a bold — and highly controversial — impersonation of South Korean superstar G-Dragon from Big Bang.

In a now-viral video, Jia Song was seen stepping out of a vehicle surrounded by hired bodyguards, donning a bright neon cardigan and a scarf-wrapped cap, mimicking G-Dragon’s signature look. The influencer strutted outside a mall, with a crowd of excited fans rushing toward him, filming and screaming — clearly fooled into thinking they had just spotted the real K-pop legend.

What began as a staged spectacle quickly spiraled into public outrage. Many netizens, especially G-Dragon’s loyal fans, were not impressed. Some accused Jia Song of “clout-chasing,” while others called the act “cringe-worthy” and “an embarrassment to Malaysians.”

“It’s funny until someone gets hurt,” one comment read, referring to the potential danger caused by the fan frenzy and crowd pushing. Others questioned if Jia Song was prepared to take responsibility had someone been injured in the chaos.

While a handful of viewers praised the influencer’s commitment to the act, the majority flooded his comment sections with calls to unfollow and cancel him, sparking a wider debate about influencer accountability and the fine line between entertainment and deception.
