A 40-year-old unemployed man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison and 13 strokes of the cane by the Shah Alam High Court for sodomising and killing a nine-month-old baby boy in 2021.
Judge Datuk Aslam Zainuddin delivered the sentence last Friday after Mohamed Badruldin Mohamed, the husband of the baby’s caregiver, changed his plea to guilty.
The decision followed forensic findings that confirmed the man’s DNA and semen were present in the baby’s large intestine and on the anus. A post-mortem determined the baby died from smothering.
The offences took place at a low-cost unit in Lembah Subang PPR between 8am and 3.30pm on April 27, 2021.
The court imposed 30 years’ imprisonment and 12 cane strokes for the murder charge, and 10 years’ jail with one stroke for the sodomy offence. Both prison terms are to run concurrently, effective from the date of arrest on April 29, 2021.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Shahrul Ekhsan Hasim led the prosecution, while Azizul Shariman represented the accused.
