An autistic teenage girl and a 50-year-old woman were rescued after their car plunged into a lake at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) earlier today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a team from the Kota Samarahan fire station was dispatched following an emergency call received at 10.40am.

In a statement, Bomba reported that both victims were rescued by members of the public before the team arrived. The 17-year-old girl managed to escape the vehicle safely, while the woman was found unconscious.
According to witnesses, a group of men who arrived at the scene quickly jumped into the water and used ropes to pull the submerged car to shore. They managed to rescue the woman from the vehicle, but she was already unresponsive.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.
