Dewan Rakyat Focuses On Welfare Aid And RV Tourism Plans

Date:

The distribution of welfare aid to children and senior citizens, along with efforts to expand recreational vehicle (RV)-based tourism, were among the key topics discussed at today’s Dewan Rakyat session.

According to the official parliamentary agenda, Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah) questioned the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development on measures to ensure timely delivery of welfare programs such as the Child Assistance (BKK), Disabled Allowance (OKU), and Senior Citizens’ Aid. He also sought details on targeted programs to support single mothers and low-income urban families, particularly in the Rasah constituency.

In the same session, Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government about government initiatives to enhance the RV-based tourism industry, including the development of RV parks for domestic and international tourists. Kalam also inquired whether Sabak Bernam could be considered as a pilot location for such parks.

Meanwhile, R Yuneswaran (PH-Segamat) questioned the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry on strategies to ensure Malaysian companies and industries can leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technologies from the United States and China.

Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari (PH-Sungai Petani) requested the Minister of Home Affairs to outline improvements in customs inspection controls at all domestic and international airports to enhance officer efficiency and curb smuggling activities.

The Dewan Rakyat session continued with the committee stage debates on the 2026 Supply Bill (Budget) for several ministries.

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to run for 35 days, concluding on 4 December.
