A five-year-old girl is believed to have drowned while swimming with friends at a clubhouse pool in Lenggeng yesterday afternoon.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the incident happened around 12.15pm.
Initial investigations found that the girl had been attending a kindergarten awards ceremony held at the clubhouse when she went missing from her parents’ sight. She was later discovered unconscious in the pool, where members of the public immediately performed CPR while waiting for an ambulance.
The child was rushed to Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban Hospital (HTJS) but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Emergency Department’s Red Zone at 1.06pm, Alzafny said.
Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
