Sukau assemblyman Datuk Jafry Ariffin has been named the new chairman of the Sabah Umno Liaison Committee.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the appointment, approved by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi under Clause 12.5 of the party constitution, will strengthen party coordination and ensure continuity in Sabah.
Alongside Jafry, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub was appointed deputy chairman, while Kalabakan Umno division chief Samasuddin Yusop takes on the role of party secretary for Sabah.
“These appointments aim to streamline party administration, improve coordination, and organise Umno’s work in Sabah more effectively,” Asyraf said. He also urged all party leaders and members to support the new leadership to continue serving the people and backing the Sabah government.
The move follows the passing of former Sabah Umno Liaison Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, last Friday at a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu.
