A 32-year-old father of two, Muhamad Azizzuan Arsemi, has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting four young girls in separate incidents, the Sessions Court heard on Wednesday (Dec 10).
Azizzuan, a factory operator, did not contest the charges, which included three counts of physical sexual assault and one of indecent exposure under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act. Convictions under these sections can carry jail terms of up to 20 years, whipping, and/or fines.
The offences occurred in late November and early December at public areas in Taman Senawang Indah and Taman Jasmin Indah. Victims ranged from seven to twelve years old. The accused reportedly committed assaults at playgrounds and along roadside areas.
Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni opposed bail, citing the severity of the crimes and the risk that the accused may continue offending or harass the victims. Despite pleading for lower bail due to remorse and family responsibilities, Judge N. Kanageswari rejected the application and set sentencing for December 16.
