A Form 4 student was found dead near a hilltop in Bentong, Pahang, after his family lodged a missing persons report when he failed to return home from school on Dec 9.
According to China Press, the teenager was expected home after classes but did not show up, prompting his family to call him repeatedly. When they were unable to reach him, they filed a police report and sought help from the authorities.
During a search-and-rescue operation, members of the public discovered a motorcycle believed to belong to the student at the foot of Bukit Desa Damai. Police and firefighters from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Department joined the search along the hill’s trail.
Tragically, the search ended when the student was found near the hilltop and pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Sin Chew Daily reported that the student was believed to have climbed a transmission tower at the top of the hill before falling. A note was also reportedly found near the body.
