The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for the Klang Valley, with heavy rain and storms expected in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya until 1 p.m. today.
The alert also extends to parts of Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan on Peninsular Malaysia. In East Malaysia, several districts in Sabah—including Ranau, Kota Belud, Sandakan, and Kinabatangan—are also under the warning.
METMalaysia said rainfall in the affected areas could exceed 20mm per hour and may last for more than an hour.
The department added that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts issued when severe weather is imminent and are valid for no more than six hours per release.
