Police Hunt Suspect Abroad Over Simpang Pulai Shooting and Murder Case

Date:

Authorities are actively pursuing a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting and stabbing of a police officer, as well as the discovery of a woman’s body inside a car in Simpang Pulai on September 7.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the suspect is believed to be overseas, and efforts to locate him are ongoing with assistance from Bukit Aman and several other agencies.

“The suspect is believed to be abroad, and we are continuing our efforts to track him down with the help of Bukit Aman, including coordination with relevant agencies to determine his whereabouts. The investigation remains ongoing, and no possibilities are being ruled out in locating the suspect,” Noor Hisam said at a press conference during the 2025 Road Safety Awareness Advocacy Programme (Op Kerja) at Unisem Ipoh.

Noor Hisam also provided an update on the police officer injured in the incident. The 26-year-old officer, who was shot in the abdomen and stabbed during a struggle with the suspect, has been transferred back to his home state of Sarawak to facilitate follow-up treatment. “He has no family in Ipoh, so with Bukit Aman’s consent, we arranged his transfer, and he has since returned to duty,” he added.

Ipoh police previously confirmed that Interpol’s assistance had been requested to track down the suspect. Authorities remain committed to continuing the investigation until the individual is located and brought to justice.
