Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to unveil a new cabinet lineup and deputy ministers later today, with sources suggesting the reshuffle could bring “major changes.”
According to insiders, Anwar presented the proposed lineup to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, during an audience at Istana Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur this morning. Photos from the meeting were shared on the Sultan’s official Facebook page around noon.
Sources close to Pakatan Harapan’s leadership indicated that the announcement could be made around 3:30pm, though others suggested it might be later in the evening.
The reshuffle is expected to promote at least three deputy ministers into full cabinet positions. The insiders named them as R Ramanan from the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, Akmal Nasir from the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, and Adam Adli from the Youth and Sports Ministry. It remains unclear whether they will retain their current portfolios or be assigned to new ones.
Another source suggested that Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail could be reassigned to a different ministry, while the reshuffle may also introduce several new faces into the cabinet.
“The reshuffle could see some promoted from deputy minister level and some new appointments in various portfolios,” a government insider said, signaling a potentially significant shift in the Madani administration’s lineup.
