A 60-year-old woman was killed in a collision involving a Perodua Myvi and a lorry carrying equipment near the Simpang Renggam police station this morning.
Renggam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Shoromi Salih said the department received an emergency call at 8.13am and arrived at the scene along Jalan Johor–Simpang Renggam at 8.24am, about 11 kilometres from the fire station.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the woman trapped in the driver’s seat of the Myvi. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a Health Ministry medical assistant.
The lorry driver, a 38-year-old man, suffered injuries to his leg and was given treatment.
Shoromi said five firefighters from the Renggam station were deployed for the rescue operation, which required the use of special equipment to extricate the victim from the vehicle.
The operation was brought under control shortly after and concluded at 8.56am. The deceased’s body was later handed over to police for further investigations.
