Search Continues for Sarawak Woman Missing Before Zurich Trip

Date:

The disappearance of 53-year-old Korean skincare distributor Suri Narudin came to light days after she failed to arrive in Zurich, Switzerland, as scheduled, prompting friends there to contact her family in Sarawak.

Close friend and singer Mac Ruhayu Mohd Nor said Suri was due to depart Kuala Lumpur for Doha before taking a connecting flight to Zurich for her annual trip to visit friends. Anxiety grew when she failed to show up at both airports, and her friends in Switzerland could not locate her.

“A friend waiting in Doha did not know who to contact when Suri did not appear. The alarm was only triggered after friends in Zurich also could not find her and reached out to her family in Sarawak,” Mac Ruhayu said.

She added that Suri’s travel plans, including tickets and accommodation, had been arranged well in advance, making her disappearance highly unusual.

Early efforts to locate Suri were hampered by limited leads, and the initial missing persons report did not indicate foul play. However, public pressure and social media outreach helped widen the investigation, including a viral video posted by Mac Ruhayu appealing for help.

Suri, who lived at Seri Nilam Apartments in Ampang, frequently travelled between Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak and stayed with her niece while in the city. Police have also questioned a household assistant who helps the family.

Authorities are currently investigating a woman’s body discovered in an abandoned house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas. Mac Ruhayu said Suri’s niece has gone to Hospital Rembau for identification, which will require DNA analysis before confirmation.

“If it is confirmed to be Suri, arrangements will be made to return her remains to Kuching, Sarawak, for burial. As friends and family, this has been heartbreaking,” Mac Ruhayu said.

Ampang Jaya police confirmed the missing persons report was lodged on December 8, one day before Suri was scheduled to leave for her overseas trip.
