Woman’s Body Found Buried in Pedas: Suspect Arrested Within 12 Hours

Date:

Negeri Sembilan police have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body found stuffed inside a bag and buried at a house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, yesterday.

Deputy state police chief Idzam Jaafar said the 41-year-old suspect was detained in Melaka on the same day the remains were discovered.

“After the body was found behind an abandoned house, police immediately launched an operation to track down the suspect.

“Based on intelligence and ongoing investigations, the suspect was arrested in Melaka within 12 hours of the discovery,” he said.

Idzam added that the Tampin Magistrate’s Court granted a seven-day remand order against the suspect this morning, starting today until Dec 25.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, and police are also working to identify several other individuals who may be relevant to the investigation.

The remains are believed to be linked to the disappearance of 53-year-old Suri Narudin, who was reported missing on Dec 8.

Suri was scheduled to travel to Switzerland via Doha on Dec 9 to meet friends but never arrived at her destination.

Her disappearance attracted public attention after a video appeal by her close friend, singer Mac Ruhayu Mohd Nor, went viral on social media.

Friends in Switzerland alerted Suri’s family after she failed to show up at the airport despite hours of waiting.

Suri, who lived in Ampang and frequently travelled between Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak, was described as someone who was easily contactable and unlikely to suddenly cut off communication.

Police later expanded their investigation based on information from the missing persons report, public appeals and new leads.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the body found in Pedas is that of Suri, as DNA analysis and post-mortem results are still pending.
