Supporters Appear Emotional After High Court Denies Najib’s House Arrest

Date:

Supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Razak were visibly emotional outside the Kuala Lumpur High Court after the court ruled that the former prime minister will continue serving his prison sentence at Kajang Prison.

Earlier today, the High Court dismissed Najib’s bid to serve the remainder of his six-year jail term under house arrest, meaning he will remain behind bars until the sentence is fully completed.

Judge Alice Loke Yee Ching delivered the ruling after nearly an hour of reading out the grounds of judgment in court, following arguments from both the prosecution and defence.

As news of the decision spread, supporters gathered outside the court compound displayed strong emotions. Several were seen crying, while others appeared visibly shaken by the outcome.

Reported by Harian Metro, the atmosphere outside the court was tense, with disappointment evident on the faces of those who had waited through the proceedings.

Despite the setback, many supporters vowed to continue backing Najib. One supporter was heard declaring they would not stop advocating for his release, a sentiment echoed by others who remained at the scene.

Supporters had reportedly travelled from various states, including northern Peninsular Malaysia, some arriving by bus in the early hours of the morning to show their support.

With the High Court’s ruling, Najib will continue serving the remainder of his prison term at Kajang Prison.
