Bride-to-Be Devastated After Fiancé Passes Away in Sleep Hours Before Wedding

Date:

A 32-year-old bride-to-be was left heartbroken after her fiancé died in his sleep just hours before their wedding was scheduled to take place.

Nor Izzati said she and Mohamad Faiz Md Rozi, 34, were due to be married at the Kepala Batas Religious Office at 10am on Dec 19. However, tragedy struck in the early hours of the morning when she received a phone call from her fiancé’s sister at about 2am.

According to Harian Metro, Nor Izzati was informed that Mohamad Faiz had passed away at his family home in Sungai Dua, Butterworth, just a day after celebrating his 34th birthday.

“What happened feels like a dream. He had promised to marry me, but Allah SWT loves him more,” she said.

Mohamad Faiz, a former electrical technician, had no known health issues, though he had previously complained of headaches.

Nor Izzati shared that the couple last spoke via WhatsApp at around 11pm the night before the wedding. She had reminded him to get some rest, and he told her he had just finished ironing his wedding attire.

“I teased him not to look too serious on our wedding day so the photos would turn out nice,” she recalled.

About three hours later, at around 1.30am, Mohamad Faiz’s mother found him unconscious. By the time Nor Izzati arrived at the house, his body had already been taken by ambulance to Hospital Seberang Jaya.

The couple first met in 2019 and reconnected during Ramadan earlier this year after a four-year separation. They last met on Dec 5 to finalise wedding preparations.

During that meeting, Mohamad Faiz agreed to cut his long hair short at Nor Izzati’s request, as he looked forward to the ceremony.

Nor Izzati also expressed sadness that she did not get the chance to serve him lontong, his favourite dish, on what was meant to be their special day.

Despite her grief, she said she accepts the tragedy as fate.

“He was a good man. Many people prayed for him after the news of his passing spread on social media,” she said.

The couple’s wedding reception had been scheduled for Dec 25.
