A woman was left traumatised after a man allegedly broke into her rented room on the 15th floor of a residential building in Cheras and molested her while she was sleeping yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at about 8.50am when the 21-year-old victim awoke to find a 24-year-old man assaulting her in her bedroom. Startled, she screamed, prompting the suspect to claim that he had mistakenly entered the wrong room.
Following the incident, the victim contacted the house agent to report what had happened before lodging a police report.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that a report was received at 11.20am and that the suspect was later arrested.
“At the time of his arrest, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and is employed at a video game shop. He has been remanded for four days until Jan 5 to assist with investigations,” he said in a statement.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had gone to a friend’s house after the incident before being detained.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty, and investigations are ongoing.
