Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has revealed that the monthly Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid will be distributed starting January 9, 2026, via the MyKad system.
The programme forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide financial support to Malaysians amid rising living costs. Eligible recipients under the e-Kasih category will receive up to RM200 per month, amounting to RM2,400 annually.
Single individuals are also set to benefit from SARA, receiving RM50 a month, or RM600 per year.
Anwar explained that the maximum aid a household can receive is RM4,600, which would apply to families earning below RM2,500 a month with five children. This total combines RM2,200 under the Sumbangan Tunai Rakyat (STR) programme and RM2,400 under SARA.
“The initiative is designed to ease the cost of living for low-income families and ensure basic financial security for all eligible Malaysians,” Anwar said.
Further details on eligibility criteria and distribution procedures are expected to be announced closer to the rollout date.
