50-Year-Old Man Remanded Over Murder of Cemetery Worker in Kuching

A 50-year-old man has been remanded by the Magistrates’ Court to assist in investigations into the murder of an elderly cemetery worker and the attempted murder of the worker’s son at a Chinese cemetery along Jalan Lumba Kuda, Kota Sentosa.

Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan approved a seven-day remand, which will expire on January 12. The remand application was filed by investigating officer ASP Sylvarius Gopog under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code. The suspect was unrepresented during the proceedings.

Earlier reports stated that the body of a 67-year-old man was discovered at the cemetery last Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene. His 34-year-old son was also seriously injured and rushed to Sarawak General Hospital in critical condition.

On the same day, a 28-year-old woman was arrested in a commercial area in Siburan in connection with the case. She was subsequently remanded the following day to assist police investigations.
