A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) in Shah Alam late on Saturday night.

According to Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, the incident happened at about 11.15pm on 11 January at Kilometre 9.4 of the NKVE in the direction of Shah Alam.

Initial investigations found that the victim had walked from the Klang–Damansara exit of the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) onto the expressway and was standing in the second lane from the right after attempting to cross the highway.

The driver of a car travelling along the route failed to notice the man in time and was unable to avoid him. The impact caused fatal injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dashcam footage of the incident, which has been circulating online, shows the man appearing suddenly in the middle of the highway just as the car was changing lanes, leaving the driver with no time to stop.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Mohd Najib at 019-7757354 to assist with the investigation.
