Woman Thought It Was Her Dog—Turned Out to Be a Giant 2.5m Python Coiled on Her Chest

Date:

A woman was left stunned after discovering a 2.5-metre python coiled across her chest while she was asleep late Monday night, the BBC reported.

The woman, Rachel Bloor, initially thought the object on her chest was her dog, only to realise it was smooth and moving. Feeling confused, her husband switched on the bedside lamp and spotted the snake.

According to reports, his first reaction was filled with expletives, followed by instructions to remove their dog from the bedroom.

“I thought if my Dalmatian realised there was a snake there, it would be chaos,” Bloor said.

The dog was taken outside, and Bloor slowly slipped out from under the blanket to escape. She believes the non-venomous carpet python had crawled in through a window before ending up on the bed.

After ensuring her safety, Bloor calmly released the reptile back outside the house.

“It was so big that even though it was coiled on top of me, part of its tail was still at the window. When I held it, the snake was almost swaying in my hands,” she said.

While her husband was shocked, Bloor said she remained calm, having grown up in rural areas where snakes were common.

Media reports said the couple, their pets and the snake were all unharmed.
