Man Arrested for Allegedly Setting Motorcycle on Fire in Cheras

A Chinese man was arrested after allegedly setting fire to a motorcycle in Kuala Lumpur, with police investigating the motive behind the arson.

The incident occurred at about 3am yesterday in Taman Pertama, Cheras.

In a statement issued this afternoon, newly appointed Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi said the motorcycle owner had reported that he parked his Honda motorcycle at the location at around 11.15pm on Jan 18.

In the early hours of the morning, the victim was alerted by a neighbour that the motorcycle had been set on fire by a Chinese man believed to be a nearby resident.

Following investigations, police arrested a man in his 50s at about 6.30pm yesterday. The suspect has been remanded for three days to assist with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the incident.
