Two armed men on a motorcycle robbed a gold shop located inside a supermarket in Bandar Baru Nilai yesterday evening.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said the suspects arrived at the supermarket at about 8pm on a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle. Both were wearing full-face helmets and black rain jackets.
“The suspects were armed with a pistol during the robbery. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. The total value of the losses is still being assessed,” he said in a statement today.
CCTV footage showed one of the suspects carrying a delivery service bag, which was used to store the stolen jewellery before the pair fled the scene on their motorcycle.
Johari said the case is being investigated under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971. He added that public safety remains a top priority and stern action will be taken against those responsible.
He urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Nilai district police headquarters or the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
