The Dewan Rakyat was informed today that Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong has been hospitalised since Jan 19 and will be on medical leave for one week.
During the question-and-answer session, Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor announced that the lower house had been notified of Wee’s absence. As a result, his scheduled parliamentary question could not proceed.
“As the Ayer Hitam MP is unable to be present, his question cannot proceed,” Ramli said, before moving on to the next item on the agenda.
Wee, who is also MCA president, had planned to ask Transport Minister Anthony Loke about the effects of the immediate enforcement of the overloaded lorry policy by the Road Transport Department since October 2025. His questions were to cover the policy’s impact on supply chains, logistics costs, and the cost of living, as well as why it was implemented without a reasonable transition period.
