Taylor Swift Becomes Second-Youngest Ever Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Date:

Pop superstar Taylor Swift, 36, will become the second-youngest songwriter ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the organisation announced Wednesday (Jan. 21). The only songwriter inducted at a younger age was Stevie Wonder, who entered the hall at 33 in 1983.

The 14-time Grammy winner will be joined in the prestigious ceremony by Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and Kiss bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. The event is scheduled for June 11 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, according to CBS Mornings.

“They’ve literally written the soundtrack to our lives. The songs we dance to, cry to, and rock out to,” culture correspondent Anthony Mason said, highlighting the impact of Swift and her fellow inductees.

Founded in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame requires that inductees have a notable catalogue of songs and be at least 20 years past their first commercial release to qualify. Swift easily meets the criteria, with a career spanning more than 15 years.

The singer-songwriter has won four Grammy Album of the Year awards. Her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, broke records as the highest-selling album in its first week of release in the modern era, according to Billboard, citing Luminate sales data.

In May 2025, Swift made headlines by reclaiming ownership of all her master recordings, including her first six albums. That year also saw her record-breaking Eras Tour inspire a concert film and a six-part documentary series on Disney+, chronicling the tour’s success.

Her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold the equivalent of 8 million albums in the United States, according to Luminate.

Swift’s induction cements her legacy as one of the most celebrated and influential songwriters of her generation, joining the ranks of music legends across decades.
