After a rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has completely turned things around, earning its place as one of the greatest open-world games of all time. Now, fans have a new way to experience Night City—but it may not be what they expected.
WeirdCo, a Seattle-based trading card company, has announced a brand-new Cyberpunk 2077 trading card game (TCG). The officially licensed game will feature fan-favorite characters from the Cyberpunk universe.
Set in the neon-lit, corruption-plagued streets of Night City, players will build decks, assemble an edgerunning crew, and battle opponents while taking on gigs to earn reputation. Increasing reputation unlocks more high-level gigs, powerful tools, and abilities, requiring players to stay ahead of rivals to succeed.
A recent livestream showcased the full gameplay loop, highlighting a dynamic, strategy-driven card game that promises to appeal to both Cyberpunk fans and TCG enthusiasts. Cards featuring iconic characters like V and Judy Alvarez have already been revealed, with more to follow. A Kickstarter campaign for the game is set to launch on March 17, 2026.
Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077’s creative director, Igor Sarzynski, recently confirmed that there are no plans to extend the game’s opening act, a request that had been popular among fans. “Would extending Act 1 (before the heist) make the game better? No, it wouldn’t,” Sarzynski explained. He also clarified that no content was cut from the game; the original opening act was always planned this way.
Fans looking forward to Cyberpunk 2 will have to wait a long time: pre-development began in 2025, and CD Projekt expects a release around 2030, citing a typical four- to five-year journey from pre-production to final launch.
With no more expansions planned for the original game, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 TCG offers fans a fresh way to dive back into Night City while they wait for the next major video game installment.
