Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government is confident it can recover more misappropriated and leaked public funds beyond the RM15.5 billion collected over the past two years.
He stressed that the amount recovered so far does not reflect the full scale of losses caused by leakages, fraud, and systemic weaknesses.
“This is the people’s money — funds that were taken, leaked, or lost due to fraud and institutional failures,” he said.
Anwar added that the government does not view the current recovery as sufficient.
“If you ask me whether this is enough, I am not convinced,” he said, reiterating the administration’s commitment to reclaiming stolen assets.
He said the government accepts the challenge of recovering lost public funds as part of efforts to protect national interests and strengthen governance.
