A former pastor in Seoul, South Korea, surnamed Yoon and in his 50s, has been charged with sexually assaulting multiple female congregants over a period of ten years.
Authorities said Yoon attempted to justify his actions by citing the biblical King David, claiming “David had many women,” a defense that sparked outrage.
The alleged abuse took place between February 2015 and November 2024. Many victims came forward publicly in January 2025, reporting repeated instances of sexual assault and harassment. They have since filed formal complaints with the police.
Following petitions from the victims, the Presbyterian Church of Korea expelled Yoon from the church in May 2025, revoking his clergy status.
Seoul Songpa Police Station confirmed that Yoon was arrested and charged on December 31, 2025, under aggravated sexual assault statutes. Police stated that he will be transferred to the prosecution upon completion of further investigations and will remain in custody throughout the legal process.
