Man Wins RM4.7 Million Lottery and Hands Entire Prize to Wife, Prioritises Love Over Money

Date:

In a rare act of generosity, a man in Foshan, China, has given all of his lottery winnings to his wife, valuing family harmony over personal wealth.

According to Southern Network, the man, surnamed Wang, had been purchasing Super Lotto tickets since 2013. On January 14, while having dinner during a shift change at a sports lottery outlet on Hecheng Street in Gaoming District, he checked the winning numbers and discovered he had won 8.36 million yuan (approximately RM4.7 million).

Excited, Wang called his wife to share the news, but she was skeptical until he returned home with the winning ticket to prove it. After taking a few minutes to compose himself, Wang went back to complete his night shift, while his wife barely slept, overwhelmed with the surprise.

The following day, the couple traveled to Foshan to collect the prize. Wang revealed that the winning numbers were a random combination of his family members’ birthdates.

Wang later stated that all of the winnings would be entrusted to his wife, explaining that preserving family happiness and harmony was more important than personal wealth. He also stressed the importance of a “rational” approach when playing the lottery.
