Melaka Firefighters Help Transport 350kg Man To Hospital

Date:

The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assisted in transporting an obese man weighing approximately 350 kilograms from his home in Kuala Sungai Baru to Hospital Alor Gajah early this morning.

JBPM Melaka Public Relations Officer, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid, said the process of removing the 40-year-old man, who was in a weak condition, from the bathroom took about 20 minutes due to the confined space.

“The man’s wife attempted to help her husband out of the bathroom but was unsuccessful, prompting her to contact the fire department for assistance at 2.56am,” he said in a statement today.

The man, who works as a teacher, was reported to have been suffering from a fever for more than a week and had been resting at home after being granted medical leave.

Mohd Hafidzatullah said eight personnel from the Masjid Tanah Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation. Firefighters also had to calm the man, who was in pain due to a bacterial infection in his leg and was also suffering from asthma.
