Police in Chonburi, Thailand, have discovered the body of a 30-year-old Russian man who is believed to have been brutally murdered on February 1.
The victim’s body was dismembered and buried in five separate locations along the banks of a pond in Soi Phatthanakan 4, Pattaya. The man had been reported missing for over 23 days, prompting media coverage and public appeals for information. His mother reportedly traveled from Russia to Thailand to file the missing person report, which spurred further police investigation.
Authorities found threatening messages demanding repayment of a debt exceeding US$120,000 (RM437,000) during the investigation. Officials believe the murder was linked to unresolved debts stemming from a marijuana business partnership that ended in dispute.
A foreign suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, has been arrested and is currently under interrogation. Police are actively searching for other accomplices, including both Thai and foreign nationals believed to be involved in the case.
The investigation is being handled by the Nongprue Police Station, with further inquiries ongoing.
