Date:

A man was killed after being dragged about 10 metres by a car while attempting to cross the road at Kilometer 13.5 of the Lebuhraya Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) on Monday.

The accident occurred at around 2.30am, and the unidentified victim, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said initial investigations revealed that a Perodua Myvi was travelling towards Kuala Lumpur when the incident occurred.

“When the vehicle reached the location, a pedestrian reportedly crossed suddenly from the median. The driver was unable to avoid him, resulting in a collision that dragged the victim,” he said.

Police noted that the victim had no identification on him at the time of the accident. He was wearing a dark purple kurta and black jeans.

Authorities are urging relatives of missing persons to come forward to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Bentong District Police Headquarters to assist with identification.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt. Zaiham added that investigations are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is urged to contact the Bentong District Control Centre at 09-222 2222 or the investigating officer at 011-61600964.
