Heartbreak in Kuala Long as 14-year-Old Falls into River and Drowns

A 14-year-old boy tragically drowned after falling into a river in Kampung Rabbana, Kuala Long, earlier this evening.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7:04 pm and dispatched 10 personnel to the scene.

Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Hasmin Nasrun Abd Rahman said the victim, Putera Aniq Fitri Zulkarnain Mohd Nordin, had reportedly gone to the river with two friends before the incident.

“When the boy did not resurface, one friend ran home to alert the family, while the other remained at the riverbank,” Hasmin explained.

The student of SMK Jeli 1 was located around 7:30 pm, about 10 metres from where he was believed to have fallen into the river. His body was later handed over to the police for further investigation.
