Taiwanese Star Jasper Liu Shocked as 3 Bottles of Water Cost RM213 in Singapore

Date:

Taiwanese actor and model Jasper Liu had an unexpected shock during his recent trip to Singapore when he discovered that three bottles of French mineral water had cost him nearly S$64 (around RM213).

The 39-year-old star is in Singapore filming Mediacorp’s upcoming crime drama Crisis Man, alongside local talents Cynthia Koh, Hong Ling, and Nick Teo.

On Feb 9, Liu shared the experience on Instagram, posting a photo of himself carrying three 1.5-litre bottles from a French natural mineral water brand sourced from the Sainte-Baume mountains in Provence.

“Remember to take note of the exchange rate when travelling,” he wrote. “I told myself not to buy too many, just one bottle per person would be enough. After checking out, I realised the price seemed a little off. It turns out the three bottles cost almost 1,600 NTD (about S$64 / RM213)!”

He added a row of ten “呵” characters — a dry chuckle indicating his amused disbelief — and jokingly described the pricey purchase as an “achievement unlocked.” He even asked his fans: “Friends, do you want some water?”

A quick check on local e-commerce sites showed that the same 1.5-litre bottle typically retails for S$16 to S$21 (RM53–RM70) per bottle. Liu later commented under his post, calling it “pure and high-quality water from France” and admitted he was “flabbergasted” by the steep price.

Co-star Cynthia Koh joined the banter in the comments, teasing, “Drinking alcohol is cheaper than drinking water.” Fans also rallied online, leaving humorous and supportive messages such as, “Such memorable water!” and “Your skin will become radiant.” Some even offered practical tips, reminding Liu that Singapore’s tap water is safe to drink and bottled water prices can vary depending on the shop.
