The Ministry of Education has clarified the structure of the History subject under the upcoming 2027 School Curriculum, confirming it will only be available to selected year groups.
According to a statement issued today, History will be offered to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils at the primary school level. The clarification comes in response to media reports regarding the subject’s availability.
The ministry noted that Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh had previously provided an explanation during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat.
“At the primary school level, History is offered to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils,” the statement said.
At the secondary school level, History will be introduced to students starting in Form One.
The 2027 School Curriculum is set to commence next year, initially covering Year 1 pupils in primary school and Form One students in secondary school.
