In a brazen attempt to dodge a £165 (RM880) bill, two diners at The Dial restaurant in Burton-on-Trent, East Staffordshire, were caught on CCTV deliberately placing strands of hair on their steak, according to The Sun UK.
Footage from the restaurant’s surveillance system shows one male customer pulling out some of his own hair and placing it on the steak before raising a complaint.
Manager Jez Hives revealed that the couple had ordered an expensive meal, including steak, fries, onion rings, and cocktails, but refused to pay, claiming the hair ruined their appetite.
“They were aggressive towards our staff, using offensive language, and left the restaurant without settling the bill,” Hives said.
The ruse was exposed after Hives reviewed the CCTV footage the following day. He has since shared the video on social media to warn other local businesses about the customers’ deceptive behaviour.
