Rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, is set to submit a representation to review two drug possession charges, his lawyer Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor told the court, saying it would be filed within a week.
Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim scheduled April 8 for the prosecution to update the court on any progress.
Namewee, 43, faces a charge of possessing 1.57 grammes of methamphetamine at a hotel room on Jalan Conlay last October, under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries up to five years’ jail, a RM100,000 fine, or both.
He also faces a charge of possessing 0.78 grammes of Sildenafil under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act 1952, punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment, a RM50,000 fine, or both.
Previously, in December, Namewee was acquitted of a separate charge after the prosecution withdrew a drug administration case when pathology results returned negative.
