A 16-year-old male student at an educational institution in Pekan sustained injuries believed to have been caused by an assault from two senior students on Tuesday.
Pekan District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaidi Mat Zin, said the incident was reported at 1.05pm on Wednesday.
Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred around 4pm when the victim was allegedly called by two senior students, both aged 19, to the back of a workshop within the institution.
“The victim claimed that he was punched and pushed by the individuals, resulting in soft tissue injuries to his neck, chest, arms, and knees,” Zaidi stated in a press release on Wednesday night.
Further inquiries indicated that the assault may have stemmed from the suspects’ dissatisfaction with the victim for failing to apologise to teaching staff over an earlier violation involving the use of an electronic cigarette on school grounds.
Police have recorded statements from the victim and the two suspects, with investigations proceeding under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
