Malaysian Netizen Sparks Online Debate Over Staying in Job With No Raise or Bonus

A Malaysian social media user has ignited widespread discussion online after sharing frustrations over their stagnant job situation. In a post that quickly went viral, the user wrote that their company had not given them a raise for three years and that they did not receive a bonus this year, asking for advice on whether they should quit.

The post struck a chord with many who have experienced similar work frustrations. Netizens flooded the comments with personal stories, sympathy, and advice, weighing whether flexible work arrangements, like working from home, are enough to stay in a role that doesn’t reward loyalty.

Some shared their own decisions to leave after long periods without raises or bonuses. “I’ve almost been at my job for four years with no raise, and the bonus is just like biscuits… sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not. In the end, I quit. Now I’m at a new company with much better benefits,” one user wrote. Another said, “I’ve been working from home for six years. Then suddenly this year, no raise and no bonus. I feel really demotivated… I probably should have quit by now.”

Others offered a different perspective, highlighting the importance of stability and mental health over salary. “For me, as long as the company pays my salary on time every month, it’s not toxic… even if my salary hasn’t increased. After resigning from a previous job for higher pay, I ended up in toxic workplaces and had to fight at the labor office,” commented one netizen. “If your current job is okay, then Alhamdulillah… prioritize your mental health over a pay increase,” they added.
