Lorry Driver Charged After Allegedly Attacking Wife With Deodorant Bottle Over Broken Phone Charger

Date:

A lorry driver appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today after allegedly slapping and hitting his wife with a deodorant bottle in a fit of anger over a broken phone charger.

Ahmad Tajul Kushri Ahmad Tajul Ariffin, 48, a father of three, pleaded not guilty to charges of causing hurt to his 44-year-old wife at their home in Peserai at 5pm on March 6, under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A.

The dispute reportedly arose after the accused was accused of not taking proper care of the children, which led to damage of household items, including the phone charger. During the incident, Ahmad was said to be packing his belongings to return to Perak, and his wife’s attempt to stop him allegedly led to the attack with the deodorant bottle, causing injuries and hearing problems.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while the accused was represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YGBK).

The court granted bail of RM2,500 with the condition that Ahmad report to the nearest police station every three weeks. The case is set for mention on May 5 for document submission and appointment of legal counsel.
