Four-Year-Old Loses Fingers in Firecracker Explosion in Kedah

Date:

A four-year-old boy lost several fingers and suffered injuries to his left palm following a firecracker explosion yesterday.

The incident occurred around 12.45pm in Kampung Tempoyak, near Merbok, Kedah where the boy was reportedly playing with two other children aged nine and two.

Kuala Muda district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, confirmed that authorities received a report at Tanjung Dawai police station at 2.15pm regarding the accident.

“Initial information indicates that a neighbour noticed the explosion followed by the child’s cries,” he said.

The injured boy was rushed by family members to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, and authorities are still examining the type of firecracker involved.
