Lovelyz member Lee Mijoo has recently ignited a lively online discussion after posting a photo of her apartment balcony.
In the Instagram post, Mijoo captioned the image “Title: On the balcony,” showing a tiny grill with just two slices of pork belly, half a mushroom, and some garlic. She explained that she grills small portions at a time to avoid burning the meat and chooses the balcony to prevent cooking smells from lingering indoors.
While fans and friends teased her for the modest serving, the post drew attention on wider online communities for a different reason. Some netizens questioned whether cooking meat on a shared apartment balcony might disturb neighbours due to smoke or strong aromas.
Supporters quickly came to her defence, with comments such as, “Sensitive people should just go live in a single-family house,” and, “It’s not like she grilled charcoal BBQ for hours; she cooked two pieces.” Others shared similar experiences, noting that their apartments also allowed gas stoves on balconies and argued that the concern was overblown.
The post highlights how everyday actions in shared living spaces can spark debate online, even when the activity seems harmless to most.
