A family holiday in Thailand turned into a nightmare on 17 March after a used syringe was allegedly discovered on a dinner plate at a high-end Phuket hotel. The distressing find occurred during an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet meant to celebrate a birthday for a group of five adults and three children.
According to a social media post by Huang Xiaoting in a popular travel group, the family had been dining for approximately an hour when the object was spotted. The syringe appeared amongst the remnants of a shared platter of prawns and clams. Despite the family using tongs to serve themselves individually, the medical waste only became visible once the food was consumed.
Upon alerting the hotel staff, the plate was promptly removed by a server. However, the family managed to photograph the item as evidence before it was taken away. While the hotel management reportedly offered a 50% discount on the meal and promised an internal investigation, the family rejected the financial compensation. They instead demanded a clear explanation of how such a dangerous item reached the dining table.
