Netflix Plans Global World Tour For Oscar-Winning K-Pop Demon Hunters

Date:

Netflix is reportedly in the early stages of planning an ambitious world tour for its hit animated musical, K-Pop Demon Hunters, according to sources familiar with the discussions on Wednesday. The move aims to capitalise on the film’s massive global popularity following its record-breaking performance on the streaming platform and its recent triumphs at the 98th Academy Awards. On Sunday, the movie secured the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, while its breakout anthem, “Golden”, earned the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

The streaming giant is currently negotiating with various concert promoters to develop a live stage show that would feature performances of the film’s chart-topping soundtrack. Reports from Bloomberg News indicate that the proposed tour is intended to visit dozens of major international cities next year. The planned itinerary focuses on large-scale arenas with capacities ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 attendees, creating a high-energy environment similar to a traditional K-pop concert.

Although Netflix has not yet finalised a deal with a specific promoter, the project has already attracted significant financial interest. Industry reports suggest that the company has been offered tens of millions of dollars in upfront guarantees to secure the touring rights. A spokeswoman for Netflix has so far declined to provide an official comment on the ongoing negotiations, though the tour is widely expected to serve as a major promotional vehicle ahead of the film’s highly anticipated sequel.

Produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, the original film centres on the fictional K-pop girl group Huntrix, consisting of members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. The plot follows the trio as they navigate the pressures of global superstardom while maintaining secret identities as supernatural demon hunters. The film’s musical success was driven by lead vocalists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, whose performances helped propel the track “Golden” to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

The proposed live tour marks a significant step in Netflix’s strategy to expand its most successful intellectual properties into physical entertainment and live events. By bridging the gap between digital streaming and live performance, the company hopes to deepen fan engagement with the Huntrix franchise. Fans across the globe are eagerly awaiting official confirmation of the tour dates and locations, which are expected to be announced later this year as production for the sequel progresses.
