“You Don’t Have Kids So You Don’t Understand”: Entitled Friend Slams Netizen For Refusing Car Loan

Date:

A heated digital debate has been ignited after a netizen shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation involving a friend who attempted to guilt-trip him into a vehicle exchange. The viral post, which has been widely circulated across various social media platforms, depicts a breakdown in a long-standing friendship over the refusal to lend a car for a five-day period. According to the uploaded messages, the friend initiated the request by explaining that he needed a larger vehicle to transport his wife, children, and a bulky baby seat, along with numerous personal belongings, back to his hometown.

The exchange took a sour turn when the netizen politely declined the request, stating that he did not feel comfortable lending his vehicle for such an extended duration. Undeterred by the initial refusal, the friend persisted, suggesting that the netizen only felt this way because he did not have children of his own and therefore could not comprehend the “suffering” and logistical difficulties of family travel. The friend further claimed that if he were wealthy, he would have simply rented a larger car himself, implying that the netizen had a moral obligation to assist due to his supposedly better financial standing.

Maintaining a civil tone, the netizen apologised again and clarified that he also had plans to use his own vehicle to take his elderly parents out, emphasizing that he wanted them to travel in comfort. This explanation was met with a sarcastic and hostile response from the friend, who claimed it was “no wonder” the netizen had allegedly been sidelined from their social circle. The friend went on to label him as “stingy” towards his peers, suggesting that his personal boundaries were a sign of poor character.

The online community has reacted with overwhelming support for the netizen, with many condemning the friend’s “entitled” attitude. Social media users pointed out that having a family does not grant someone the right to use another person’s property, especially for a multi-day trip. Several commenters suggested that the friend could have easily utilised e-hailing services like Grab or relied on public transport if his own vehicle was insufficient for the journey. One user sarcastically remarked, “Do they think we buy cars for the comfort of other people’s families?” while many others urged the netizen to “block” the toxic individual immediately.

The post concluded with the netizen offering a final, witty retort, asking the friend to pray for him to get married and have children quickly so that he might one day “understand” the friend’s predicament. This local incident has sparked a broader conversation regarding the boundaries of friendship and the social expectations surrounding the lending of high-value assets. As the post continues to garner thousands of shares, it serves as a stark reminder of how quickly personal disputes can escalate into public spectacles in the age of social media.
