Residents in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, were left in a state of shock during the Aidilfitri festive period following the discovery of several dismembered human remains. The horrific find occurred late last weekend at Gang Nawasari, Jalan Gunung Pelandu, within the Sempaja Utara sub-district of North Samarinda. Authorities were alerted to the scene after a sack containing several body parts was found, leading to an immediate and extensive forensic investigation by local police units to secure the area and collect evidence.
The identity of the victim, currently referred to by authorities as “Miss X,” remains unknown as forensic experts work to piece together the available remains. Police spokesperson Ipda Mat Bahri confirmed that the body had been systematically severed into seven distinct parts, indicating a high level of premeditation. Initial reports suggest that the victim’s legs, hands, thighs, and torso were completely separated, points that point toward an extremely violent encounter and a deliberate attempt by the perpetrator to dispose of the body.
In a grim development, investigators revealed that other portions of the victim’s body were scattered across two different locations within a radius of approximately 70 to 100 metres from the initial discovery. This scattering of remains suggests that the killer may have been attempting to conceal the crime or hinder the identification process by separating the parts. The recovery operation required meticulous searching of the surrounding terrain to ensure all evidence was accounted for before the remains were transported for medical examination.
The recovered body parts have been sent to the RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie hospital, where a dedicated forensic team is conducting a detailed autopsy and identification process. Experts are expected to use DNA profiling and other forensic markers to establish the victim’s identity, as no identification documents were found at the scene.
