Segamat Police Launch Hunt For Motorcyclist Filmed Lighting Fireworks While Riding

Date:

Authorities in Segamat are currently tracking a male suspect following the circulation of a viral video showing a motorcyclist performing dangerous stunts while handling lit pyrotechnics. Segamat Deputy District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent M Nantha confirmed that the incident was recorded at approximately 10:30 pm last Sunday. The high-risk activity took place at Kilometer 185 of the Johor Bahru-Seremban Road and involved an individual operating a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle.

The police have categorised the incident as a serious breach of public safety and are actively seeking the suspect to facilitate further investigations. According to official statements, the motorcyclist was seen riding at speed while holding ignited fireworks, which produced visible sparks near his hands before being discarded onto the public roadway. This reckless behaviour has drawn widespread condemnation from the public, who highlighted the severe risk of accidents posed to other road users.

Deputy Superintendent M Nantha urged anyone with relevant information or who may have witnessed the act to come forward and assist the authorities. Members of the public can reach out to the Segamat District Police Headquarters (IPD) Traffic Police Station directly by calling 07-9325811. The police emphasized that cooperation from the community is vital in ensuring that individuals who flout traffic laws are held accountable for their actions.

A stern warning has been issued to the public regarding the legal consequences of performing dangerous acts on government roads. The authorities reiterated that strict enforcement actions will be taken against any party found to be violating existing laws or endangering the lives of the general public. Such stunts not only violate traffic regulations but also fall under laws governing the safe handling of explosive materials.

As the search for the Yamaha RXZ rider continues, the police are reviewing available footage to identify the registration number and the identity of the individual involved. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding road hooliganism and the misuse of fireworks during festive or social gatherings. Further updates are expected once the suspect has been brought in for questioning by the investigating officers.
