A female teacher surnamed Xiao Mei (pseudonym) at a foundation was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for five years, for twice having sex with a boy under 14 whom she tutored.
The boy, surnamed A-Wei (pseudonym), attended tutoring classes at the foundation in July and August 2024, where he met Xiao Mei. Knowing he was immature, she took him to her rental apartment for sex once between September and October 2024, and again on the evening of October 19.
The case surfaced after authorities intervened and reported it. Xiao Mei confessed during the investigation, backed by chat screenshots and injury reports.
The Nantou District Court noted her role as an educator required guiding teens on proper sexual views, yet she crossed professional boundaries. However, considering her youth, the consensual nature without violating his will, full cooperation, remorse, settlement with the victim’s family including compensation, judges imposed 1 year 8 months per count of sexual intercourse with a male under 14—merged to 2 years, suspended 5 years.
During probation, she must attend two rule-of-law education sessions and accept protective supervision. The ruling allows appeal.
