Police Hunt Suspect Over Sexual Harassment Case Near Kajang MRT Exit

Date:

Police are actively tracking down a man believed to be involved in a sexual harassment incident at the exit of the Kajang MRT Station.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said authorities became aware of the case after a 23-second viral video circulated on the Threads application on Thursday showing the alleged incident.

He said police have inspected the scene and initial investigations based on the footage indicate that a male suspect is believed to have committed the act.

“Efforts to locate and arrest the suspect are currently being intensified,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Naazron urged members of the public with any information to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the nearest police station or the Kajang District Police Headquarters.

Information can also be channelled directly to the investigating officer, Sergeant Nor Atiqah Anuar, at 013-7948922.

He also advised the public against sharing the video further, warning that such actions could disrupt public order and cause unnecessary concern.

“Action can be taken under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
