MOHE Reviews Measures To Help Students Cope With Rising Living Costs

Date:

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is reviewing suitable interventions to support the campus community, especially students, in managing the anticipated rise in living costs amid the ongoing global energy crisis.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the crisis has not only disrupted the global economy but has also placed additional financial pressure on students, academics and university staff across the country.

He noted that he recently met representatives from the National Student Consultative Council (MPPK), who put forward several proposals aimed at helping students cope with potential increases in daily expenses, including food and essential goods.

Zambry said all suggestions raised during the engagement session would be carefully assessed by ministry officials, with immediate attention given to viable solutions.

He added that a set of initial measures is expected to be announced soon, following further deliberations within MOHE.

The minister emphasised that student concerns are being taken seriously, assuring that their feedback will not only be acknowledged but translated into actionable policies.
